Position: Part-time Bookkeeper (15 hours/week) with Municipal and Property Management Experience
Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Part-time Bookkeeper to join our team for 15 hours per week. The ideal candidate must have experience in municipal accounting and property management and possess strong bookkeeping skills to manage financial transactions accurately and efficiently.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain Financial Records: Record day-to-day financial transactions, including purchases, receipts, sales, and payments, accurately and promptly.
- Accounts Payable and Receivable: Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoice processing, vendor payments, tenant invoicing, and rent collections.
- Bank Reconciliation: Perform monthly bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records.
- Payroll Processing: Process payroll accurately and in compliance with relevant regulations, including calculating wages, preparing payroll tax returns, and issuing paychecks for property management staff.
- Budget Monitoring: Assist in monitoring budgets and financial performance for both municipal and property management operations, providing regular reports and analysis to management.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and maintain financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, to support decision-making processes for both municipal and property management activities.
- Municipal Accounting: Utilize knowledge of municipal accounting principles and regulations to ensure compliance with local government requirements and reporting standards.
- Property Management Accounting: Apply property management accounting principles to accurately track income, expenses, and property-related financial transactions.
- Software Proficiency: Proficiently use accounting software and property management systems to perform duties efficiently and effectively.
- Audit Preparation: Assist in preparing documentation and supporting schedules for internal and external audits as required for both municipal and property management operations.
- Ad Hoc Financial Tasks: Support the finance team with ad hoc financial tasks and projects related to both municipal and property management activities as needed.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Previous experience in bookkeeping or accounting roles, with specific experience in municipal accounting and property management preferred.
- Education: A degree or diploma in accounting, finance, or a related field is desirable.
- Software Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero) and property management systems.
- Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping and reporting.
- Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively to meet deadlines.
